Saw Tommy Emmanuel last night..........

Most everyone at the venue was in shock after his 2 hour concert.

I suppose all of you have heard him before, but he was new for me.

It is so easy to be overwhelmed by his technique whereas what impressed me the most was his arrangements. What musical talent.

Craig

An amazing talent indeed! I'm in his homeland of Australia right now and he is a national hero here. I've never had the pleasure to see him in person before, but have been privey to some amazing videos from his early years on electric to his recent amazing acoustic playing.

If Chet Atkins says you are the best, well.....that says alot! As you said, his arrangements are amazing and his technique......well, his technique is simply stunning. Check out his early playing on Kinman teles for a special treat. He could have been a killer in the Eric Johnon, Larry Carlton, type fusion mode. Scary good and he makes it so easy. His use of harmonics is mind boggeling and ( although in a different musical realm ) reminds me of Lenny Breau

Had the pleasure of touring the Maton factory in Melbourne. Of course, they LOVE Tommy as he has been a big Maton supporter for years. Anyway, glad you liked the show. He is the consumate showman as well as musician. I think he would be a great guy to have a few brews with!

First saw him in Sydney back in '78 at the Manzil room (a disreputable dive in King Cross which used to feature some great bands).
Back then he was a hot tele player with Doug Parkinson's Southern Star Band.
