My personal Acoustic Heaven :-)
The one to the right is a Furch OM34SR.
Really bright sounding, but still nice & even "from top to toe" ... Excellent for fingerpicking, not so good for strummin' (at least not strung with Elixir 0.011's ...). Nice & very comfortable semi-satined finish & "comfotable in any position" body shape The left one is my new Gibson J-45 ! Absolutely wonderful guitar ! Great for strumming & fingerpicking ! Much more "bassy & round" than the Furch (obviously...), but not as "boomy" as the Martins I tried (D-28 & D-35). Feels & sounds solid as a rock ! Hope it stays that way .... The Fishman (?) "pickup" is OK ... If it'd been an extra I wouldn't have bought it, but it wasn't ![]() Any other Furch owners here ? I've got two ... in addition to the OM, I've got an Jazz-Archtop ... (see gallery for pic) Any J-45 owners with tips on how to make the Fishman sound a bit more "acoustic" when recording direct ? /J

Love Gibson acoustics. Owned a '59 J-45 for quite a while and have played a bunch of others. Although they generally seemed to have deeper mids than many guitars, I never really thought of them as bassy especially when compared to the SJs or Hummingbirds. They are great strummers and my favorite Gibsons after the J-200.
Anyway, not sure anything can be done with the Fishman. I have heard those things clip like crazy at times. Prior to '06, the J-45s all came with the Fishman. In '06 Gibson began using L.R. Baggs Electronic System so you might look at replacing your Fishman with a Baggs. There are also soundhole pickups. I know Baggs makes one. But to my ears the best remains the old DeArmond 210. This is what I use on my 1960 J-200They do tend to have some feedback issues so you have to be careful but you can play them through any amp.

Love mine. Got a great deal on it too. Nice to know people in the store. I am also thinking about pickups for it at the moment. I'm leaning towards the Baggs. A friend of mine gigs with the Fishman in his J45 all the time and it sounds just fine. I just wish the Baggs were black. Not that biege/yellow colour.

Yeah, the J45 is a wonderful guitar. Unfortunately, I can't afford one. Luckily, my Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500M filled the void very nicely. Excellent quality slope shouldered guitar, easily on par with instruments that retail for $1000+....and it costs approx. half of that.
