Anyone own or played a Yamaha Silent G'tar?

The steel string ...

... or the nylon version ...

Yamaha silents

I like em Rob. Tried both and came within a whisker of taking home the steel string. I need another guitar like I need another 10 lbs, so I passed. Great playing and sounding ( plugged in or ear phones of course ) guitars. The fact that my buddy works at guitar center and will get me one at his cost does not help the cause!

Thanx for the good scoop, Brad. I've had a hankering for a nylon strung git-fiddle for awhile, and the lack of feedback on these essentially solid body g'tars should be a good deal for studio or stage. Anyhoo, I ordered out the SLG100N from Guitar Trader for $425/delivered - that's the cheapest I've seen it go for. I'll be sure to pen my 2 cent review here at The Review Zone.

I see there's a review in the new GP on the steel version, too.

Yes, I got the nylon string classical model at the end of September and returned it the same day for only one reason - the pickup and electronics were noisy and not at all "toneful" to my ears. The onboard digital reverb was just terrible, too. Last week I played the steel string model - again, nice overall quality and playability but the electronics were just not pro quality to my ears. YMMV.
