I own a 510ce L9, Engelmann/Mahogany, love the short scale on this baby. They were only intended to be a limited edition in the Fall of 2004. Kind of a way for Taylor to assess the market for short scale guitars. It looks like they were a decent success, judging by how Taylor expanded the use of the short scale within their line this year.
Chord fingerings are a bit easier, tone is slightly mellower and bassier. I'd consider picking up a 710 L9 if one crossed my path.
