How about em? got a chance to pick one up resonable.
Seems like a nice axe. on board electronics. Dont seem to be able to find out much about them..think they were discontinued some time back. Anyone got any input?
Ill probably buy it anyway...$650. seem ok? thanks!

Run, don't walk, and buy it for that price. That's less than I paid for my used D-30, and I thought I got a fantastic deal. And if you don't like it, give me a buzz, I'll take it off your hands. I've been looking for one of those.

Thanks for the input guys. I had a Guild many years ago
and I dont remember wich model for sure but, it was one of there more modest models, albeit a very decent and playable guitar. Just got off the phone with the owner and made it mine! picking it up Friday. I played it a few months ago and was very impressed as I recall. Just didn't know the value and cant seem to find much info on them. At that price I did not think I could go wrong. Anyone know what they went for new? Thanks again!

Ted Beesley's book says:

"The DV52 was introduced in 1992 as a vintage style model with rosewood body and cream binding with the headstock reflecting the later style."

As Fender didn't acquire Guild until 1995, your guitar could be a Westerly--need the serial number to determine.

I'm pretty positive all of the DV52's (DV72's, etc.) are Westerly built. Though Fender acquired Guild in '95, Westerly didn't close until right around 2000.

As others already said, RUN don't walk... especially at that price. I don't think you can get them on Ebay for any less than $800. That's only bound to go up. If I was in the market for another acoustic right now, it would be a DV52 or a Martin D-28.

Yes, the Guild is that good.

I have an all Black Guild DCE1 - Acoustic / Electric Dreadnaught -Westerly made - I love it. I will have to say that some of the binding along the back has come loose. I keep a Keyser soundhole humidity sponge in it and keep it in its case when I'm not playing it. Apart from that it was well worth the $700 I paid for it. I was looking at the Takamine EF341 - but the spruce top Guild sounded better that the cedar and was cheaper and was made in the US (not that foreign made guitars are of less qualtiy - I just try to support US made when I can) - I was sold.

I'd love to find a good quality used Bluesbird - anyone know of any (that won't cost me 2 Teles and a bottle of Highland Park 18)?

stamped inside? Will know more when I pick it up later this week.

Serial #AD 522460 makes it a 1995.

Good luck with it. I'd have to check but think the orig list was $1200-1500.

Thanks all for the help and encouragement. I hope to use this new axe for gigging. I have a Michale Collins "custom" that I have been using but hate to take it to clubs.

BODY: Rosewood back and sides, bound top and back with cream binding
TOP: Spruce with scalloped bracing
NECK: Mahogany
FINGERBOARD: Ebony with dot inlays

Well...here are a few pics!! When I got home from work today, the FORMER owner called and said he was having money problems ( messy divorce,...I know the gal...yep, messy) and if there was any way that I could pay him today, he would drop $50 bucks off of the price!! Needless to say to the bank I a went!..... a couple of small nicks here and there but, no big deal. After all this was a guitar that was played and I would rather have one that has been played, ie: broken in...

sounds and plays very nice and louad with good mids and hi's....gotta go clean her up and play a while. Think I will take her to rehearsel tomorrow! Thanks guys..

Nice score! The DV52 was always a favorite of mine. The compensated saddle and nut on yours is unique. I am positive that Westerly never shipped that way. But a good looking repro bridge anyway....or did they fill in the original slot and re-rout for the new saddles?

Yes the saddle appears to have been filled and re-routed.
I must say that I dont think I have ever seen a compensated nut before. The intonation seems superb.
Even checked with my Peterson Virtual Strobe and I am still smiling.

This is the newest idea in guitar intonation.
It actually works well.
I bet the into is much better than a normal Guild.
Be happy you have it-it's a $300 repair.

I talked to my Luthier friend about the compensated nut and bridge. The above was his reply..

..Teletwang, the date stamp says: Feb 3 1998 .

Whomever did a nice job matching the ebony. The new saddles really make the location of the bridge look way off. No wonder the previous owner had to do something.

I never understood why Guild only chose to compensate the saddle solely on the monstrous B30. But even that only lasted a short while before going back to a single saddle.

Hey, you really did make out on this deal. Congratulations.
