Opinions on new Fender Guilds?

I played a solide sprice/rosewood D-50 the other day (serial #000012) that sounded FANTASTIC. Clear, crisp, and well supported in the bass department. The fretwork was a little sloppy, though, but for the price it seems like a great deal. Anybody have any other experiences with the new Fender-made Guilds?

I have a 1999 Guild JF30 jumbo that sounds great and plays like butter. It sounds better w/ each passing year and I haven't had to adjust the neck in the 4 years I own it.It is also built very well w/ no problematic areas.
I really like Guilds they are honest, well built guitars that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I bought a slightly used Corona-made D50CE in November. Outstanding guitar!! The fretwork on mine is just fine.

I really like the new Guilds

I had a '68 Guild F30 until I traded it, plus a little cash, in 2001 for a Santa Cruz D. In the 60's I thought that Guilds were equal to Martins (different but equal) for less money. I never played a new Guild after 1975 until about 1999. The guitars they were producing then were much heavier and didn't have the playability or the tone of the '60's models. Last year I had a chance to A/B a new F50 Rosewood and a NOS JF55. I was amazed. The new F50R is very much like my brother's 1968 F50R. Light, responsive, lots of volume and great tone. The tone doesn't match my brother's 35 year old guitar, but I think it might with 10 years of constant playing. I was afraid that Fender would ruin the Guild name. Instead, they have vastly improved the quality IMO. I hope they can revive the quality of the Gretsch guitars like they did Guild. Oh, BTW, try one of the new Benedetto breathed on Artist Awards and X700 Stuarts. Wow! Now that's really improvement!

I played one about a year ago, serial number something like 00000017. It was sweet! I've played others that weren't quite as nice but still very fine guitars. I think Fender is doing their best to make Guild's great guitars again. Martin and Taylor better watch out!
