Traded my tele for a 12-string acoustic
I came to the conclusion that I'll never be a decent electric guitar player... When I turned 50, 9 years ago, I bought my first Strat (followed by a Les Paul and a Tele) to try to keep up with my son who has long ago surpassed me in playing skillfully. I thought telecasters were the best electric guitars for me, but I played acoustics for more than 40 years. I made a career change 7 years ago that leaves me very little time for practicing. So when I found a Takamine F-400s 12-string with a great neck and gorgeous tone, I traded my 20th anniversary Squier Standard Telecaster, a Squier Strat mini, and a Yamaha 12-string (with a fat neck and dead strings) for it. I wasn't playing or even taking the others out of their cases and my son has two Parker Fly Deluxe's, a Les Paul, a MIM Strat and didn't want what I had. Even after teaching until 10 p.m., I look forward to coming home and playing the Tak. There's still a Yamaha tele style in my closet, but I'm going to enjoy playing acoustic from now on instead of struggling to try to play electrics.
