I played a cedar topped model. It was by far the best sounding Taylor I've heard. It still sounded like a Taylor, but it had a much fuller sound. That being said, it doesn't have the rumble and bass of a dreadnought. It's a great guitar for fingerstyle and strumming, but not really for bluegrass flatpicking. I like the fact that it comes with no cutaway and no electronics.

I've spent some quality in store time with the Rosewood/Spruce model. First off it's a loud, rich sounding guitar, but if you really dig into a big G chord with a flatpick the thing will still compress on you just like a Grand Auditorium though.
Second it's a big sucker, really big. My lap likes Grand Auditoriums and Dreadnaughts better. Third I like the understated cosmetics. Many Taylors are just too darn pretty for my taste. Just my observations
