Suzuki acoustics anyone?
Has anyone played their guitars? I'm looking for an affordable second acoustic that I can travel with easily - in the USA the Harmony guitars from the 60's seem to get a lot of affection, but over in old world Europe (I'm in Lyon,France) they're rarely seen, so I've done a little searching and stumbled on this brand, Kiso Suzuki Violin Co., Japanese guitars from the 70s that people appreciate at Harm*** Central.
Other suggestions are welcome - I have an 000 size Guild with a 1.75 width neck as my mainstay, and I don't know whether to go for a parlour size for a raggedy blues sound and handy little size or for a dread size for excessive bass...both ideas are tempting for the fingerpicking blues, country blues songs I play. Thanks. |

Found a 70's Suzuki 12-string in a thrift store once. It was their top model (model 5 or something?) it's top had pulled up quite a bit and was unplayable. Bought it for $25. Repair man did about $100 worth of work to it, made it easy to play. Now a friend of my dads has it, and plays it more than his assorted Larrivee and Guild 12 strings. Very nice lil' guitars if you can get them for the right price. Try to find one of the nicer ones, not one of the lowest models. Those ones are just crud.
