Better sound from my hummingbird...
I have an Epiphone hummingbird that I bought a few months back. It sound great, I have no complaints but I was wondering if there was any modifications I could make to make it sound even better. I'm still new the the "tech" stuff.

All I would say is that factory setups are not always great.
The nut is often a little high, which makes chording there a little more difficult. The fretboard can be a little dry. I put rosewood oil on mine, but many use lemon oil. I get mine from a health food shop in the "essential oils" rack. A little goes a long way. makes playing/bending a better experience. Polishing the frets is a good idea too. Mask the rosewood, though. Are you happy with the string weight? If you are having a setup, that's the time to change your mind. I would say 12s-13s would be right on a Humminbird. I have 12s on mine, 13s on a shorter scale J50. I like the Nanoweb strings because I don't like changing them too often. |

Yeah, it is a little difficult to play chords towards the nut. Especially bar chords. I'm having the nut and saddle changed and the action lowered pretty soon and also putting in new bridge pins. I hope this makes it sound better than it already does. Any products you recommend?

The factory setup is a bit high. I may get it lowered, when I have time/money. I'm a fairly robust strummer, however, and the high action is a blessing for that. I'm not really sure what I'll do. |
