Capo that holds 13's
Hey,
I've had this Dunlop standard http://www.feedbackmusic.com/SupplyI...iek_nikkel.jpg capo for years, which I now see is for a classic guitar (they told my parents they were good for any type!) But they cant keep down my 13' gauge strings on my acoustic and even struggle with my electric's 11's, now my question is, which capo will keep these bad boys down?! With the capo I got now (see picture in the link above) I get LOADS of string buzz and unwanted tuning problems..... please let me know what capo will do the trick! Greetings, Jesse. |

I have a kyser. Holds my 13s down just fine. And it comes in many colors.

Those Dunlops are fairly weak. It's why I like them for electric guitar - they don't pull the strings sharp. My guess is that it isn't the 13s, it's the capo. The Kyser should work for you.

Another +1 for the Kyser. I have one in every guitar case. I have a Shubb, which I like just fine, but I'm not going to replace all those Kysers.

Get one with adjustable tension. That way you can adjust the tension to fit the guitar and the placement on the neck. The Kysers are nice, quick to put on and easy to use, but they can pull the strings sharp. I use a Shubb, cheap, simple and effective.

Don't get a kyser. Non adjustable tension wise and cause way premature fretware with my students' guitars. I've seen it time and again. They're great from a performance stance (quick) but horrible from a fret perspective. Shubb would be fine. I use them on my 13's all the time without having to crank down the tension hard.

I have two Keysers that I use for my two acoustics. They do not work well on either of my electrics, so I have a Shubb for them. The Shubb works very well for both electrics; I've never tried it on the acoustics 'cause I have the two Keysers that work well on them.
