""They have a very detailed treble response that enables them to poke out through the din of other instruments," he said. "That is how they got into the market. They had a sound that shined brightly in a band setting, a very articulate and sparkling sound." "

We ran a Songwriter's Open Mic for three years. Seemed like every other musician had a Taylor. Yes, I'm sure they cut through the mix, but solo they tend to be a bit thin.

Nice article, though. Love the way those guys started and found their niche.

Not unlike the Tele bridge pickup sound, when comparing electrics, in that respect.

I recently traded my '98 k20c, and am starting to miss it. I will admit I never truly loved the tone of it, though it did improve over the 13 years I had it. Great story of living the dream. I enjoyed the short video.

Taylors aren't my thing (too damn bright), but they're nice guitars anyway. I'm with Martin R, they sound good with a group.

I have three Taylor's (512, 812C and a Dreadnaught 12 string). I don't think any of them are overly bright. Maybe I just got lucky. A luthier friend feels that most Taylor guitars have a resonance around the open B string that drives him crazy. He blames the bolt on necks.
