Looking for a 000 size acoustic for under 1000... any recomm
I'm looking for a 000 size acoustic at a reasonable price... of course solid woods would be nice, but for under a grand, I'm not expecting that much. I've seen the Martin proletariat series, and a lot of those are under a 1000. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations from some perhaps lesser (or better?) known makers that offer a good value in a 000/OM? Thanks!

I would second the Larrivees
Exceptional quality for the money. Play everything you can find in the class/price your looking at, then try the Larrivee and see what you think. I think you'll be pleasently surprised!

I would go to Pawless.com this guy is making me a custom guitar with my name on the fretboard he emails pics and does guitars for Jack Ingrum, Vince Bell ect. The guitars seem to be built like Martin's but at a reasonable price.

you want tone on the cheap??????
Call Fatdog @ Subway or better yet go to the website
@ Subway Guitars out of Berkeley (California)....After he gives something "the treatment" it's glorius....this crew could take a tennis racket and make it giggable...Another one of those places to stop at when you blow into town. It's worth goin' on line just to check the Dog's spin on Dunkmore.....These guys are good and I mean real good. You'll have to just get used to not getting ripped off..... how refreshing....quality an actual musician can afford and still eat food fit for human consumption. You'll have a gem for under 5 bills. If you haven't been, you're all gonna love this place.

Martin's 000-15 and others in an all-mahogany bodied guitar can be had for under a grand. I have one and it's an amazing sounding guitar! Plus it's a Martin! It has a fuller sound than you're going to find in anything that isn't Martin, Gibson, or Guild.

Tacoma
Tacoma makes an amazing US built guitar for very great prices. Check out edromanguitars.com. They are a great value. If you want a small body, they have a cool parlor. But if you want an amazing fingerstyle guitar, check out the "Little Jumbo" series designed by Laurence Juber. You can get a satin finished new with lifetime warranty for around $600. with hard case. I own three.

MARTIN
I just bought an OM 16 GT from Elderly in Lansing MI.
www.elderly.com $768.00 with the same type of hard case that my D-15 came with (included). The OM has the OOO body with 1 3/4" nut rather than 11/16". It feels superb for fingerstyle and very balanced for flat picking. If you have never been to the Elderly website, you should go. They have their own digital pictures of all their inventory. 8 to 12 pictures of each guitar. The pictures are very honest because they are high quality home spun photos. Like REALLY good e-bay photos....not touched up or photo-shopped. Some studio photos of guitars make every guitar look like a museum piece (not always reality). The Martin 15 series (all mahogony solid wood) bloom out so well as you play them - $625.00 with case. (They smell great-mahogony - every time you open the case.) The 16s have a spruce top and a few more cosmetic appointments - High $700.00s with case. Martin Martin Martin My 2 cents. John

Finally got one!
I finally found my guitar! I got a NOS Yamaha LS500 handcrafted model. It is amazing! Made in Japan. I've been jamming with it for a few weeks now and it holds it own. My friends can't believe how loud it is (louder than my friend's HD-28 and other dreads, he has major Freudian Guitar Envy now
New old stock from around 2001, beautiful spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, full binding, etc. I got it for 500 with the case shipped, these retailed for 1500, what a deal! I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone seeking a low cost but excellent OM or OOO. Thanks for the help! |
