NGD!! Larrivee D03-RE
Picked out a new guitar yesterday. My old acoustic is an Epiphone EO-1 I bought new in about 1990. It's been a good guitar, but it's time.
Headed down to Dave's Guitar in LaCrosse and started playing everything I could find under 1K. Taylor, Martin, Guild, Epi, Alvarez. Lots of guitars at that store, but it was fun work! The used Larrivee D03-RE stood out far ahead of anything else in that range to my ears. I love it. The guitar just booms, but every note is clear and bright. Plugged in, it sounds wonderful too. Couldn't be happier. This isn't the exact guitar, but a used D03-R they still have in stock. Apparently Dave's is pretty quick about taking down the links to their sold guitars, and I haven't taken my own pics yet. ![]() I also played a $5800 guitar made just down the road in Sparta, WI. Just to see what another 5K would get me. Oh my! Hopefully the Larrivee cures the acoustic GAS for another 19 years and keeps me away from the McPhersons! |

Good Choice! The 03 series from Larrivee is great because they offer just as high quality of construction and tone as the higher end models. No compromise in the quality just cosmetics and a lot of folks prefer the look of the 03 series. I've owned 3 or 4 myself and they were all fantastic!

You made a great choice. Just wait till the wood opens up in a couple months. Its going to sound even better.Don't be fool by the lower price of Larrivee guitars. They are as good as any higher end competitor.

My brother called me about a month ago. He lives in Minneapolis. He wanted to know what acoustic guitar he should buy in the $1000.00 price range. I didn't even hesitate. I told him go a little more and get a Larrivee 03. A week later he called me and said he found a mint condition used one for half the price of new. He's a very happy guy.
Great guitar enjoy it. www.myspace.com/dawiklund

Congrats, enjoy! My favorite acoustic guitar is Larrivee, period. I know there are others I'm supposed to enjoy more, such as Martin, Gibson, Guild, and Taylor. I've tried, but none serve me in the practical sense as well as Larrivee. I'm a total pimp with a yellow fedora hat in this regard. My main working guitar is an LV-03E, and my high string is an old D-03.
I think I'd prefer the satin finish even if I were a millionaire, which I am not. Larrivee for me. |
