Takamine "lawsuit" 00028 copy

Today I spent time with a little old (1979) Takamine, EF 307. I think it is from the "lawsuit" days as it looks pretty much like a Martin 00028, including the decal script. Or maybe a 00018 series as it is spruce/mahogany.

This guitar is all ply but it sounds pretty decent (although it is a little quiet). Nice rosewood fret board with excellent frets. The factory electronics are ok too, in a cheap kind of way.

Any one else have experience with the Tak's from this era?

I might just have to buy it. It is so easy to play compared to my Dread.

Those were great guitars.
If it were reasonable, I'd strongly consider it.

I can get it for $150. Kind of high for a plywood guitar but I tell ya, it sounds and feels real good.

The neck is still in place too, no signs of a reset needed, and good saddle height. Not bad for a 1979 guitar but maybe the plywood top helps sometimes.

You can always sell it down the road.

I've seen those go for $3-400 on eBay. Nice find. If you buy it, post pics?

All the FG series Yamaha's from that era were plywood, and they are Killers. You can't go wrong for $150.00

Well I bought it. Thanks for the opinions. New strings and a little truss/saddle adjustment and it is even better than I originally thought.

I think it will be a lot of fun and where do you find this much mojo in a new guitar for $150!

I know it's all ply but - "old wood is good"

thanks again, now back to the Tak.

Way to go! Old Taks are fun. You might think about putting in a K & K pickup later, just for giggles.

Pics?
