Am I the only one who likes the Stratacoustic and Telecoustic?

I have a Stratacoustic....ok, no giggling!!!! I was looking for an acoustic that I liked, that felt good, etc. Now, this was about 5 months ago when I first got back to playing after a 39 yr layoff. Unplugged it sounds....well....not good.....but plugged in to different acoustic amps it actually sounds good. So I bought it. Now I am looking to get a Telecoustic, since the 13 yr old took my Stratacoustic, and mess around with different strings, EQ, amp settings....

After saying all of that, am I the only person who has one or actually likes it? I am not comparing these to Martins, Taylors, etc....heck, I am not even comparing them to Ovations, but for me....I like them.

If it floats your boat, get it...who cares what anyone else thinks?
I had a stratacoustic and it was playable...not the worst I've played, but about as far from the best as you can get.......YMMV

You are right about the unplugged sound. If someone put strings on a shoebox it wouldn't sound much worse, but yes, plugged in they are pretty good and comfortable to play.
I bought one used with a crappy looking cream colored top. I painted it 1963 Corvette silver. Once painted I had lost the rosette so I made an aluminum one and it turned out ok.
I ended up selling it to a band called Lion's Gate and they actually used it on their CD (I have never heard it but he said he strung it up with nylon strings).
My take? All in all, not a bad guitar for what it does.

I dig mine. it is my travel guitar. I take it with me all the time. Not worried if something happens to it. I would love to find a decent used Telecoustic. It sounds really good with a brass slide for open tunings too.

I recently got a Telecoustic from a pawn shop with the primary intent of using it for a travel guitar. When I'm out of town for more than 5 days I check a bag, and got the Telecoustic 'cause I can take the neck off and put it in the suitcase along with my clean t-shirt and toothbrush. I made a "top protector" out of a piece of 1/2" ply. It is slightly bigger than the outline of the body and has a rectangular hole cut out for the bridge. I wrap a t-shirt around the body and then rubber band the ply in place. Bombproof. When I take it apart, I loosen the strings and then pop the bridge pins, remove the strings and coil them up, and wrap the neck in another t-shirt. I pack a screwdriver, peg winder tuner, capo, picks and spare strings-totally covered. I figure I might someday put a spare Tele neck on it someday for ****s and giggles....
I've been playing open mics lately and have a Carvin AC175 (similar to the Guild Songbird) that I play thru a Fishman Aura. Gotta tell ya the Telecoustic sounds quite a bit better.....

I had a telecoustic that I tried to love. I bought it when Musician's Friend was blowing them out. It sounded horrible acoustically and the piezos didn't sound very good plugged in. It's only redeeming quality was that it had a telecaster neck.

I sold it for about what I paid for it.

same here ... my Telecoustic sounds good through a SS amp, not great unplugged but OK ... it's a solid top i believe ... the small body is very comfortable to play ...

This was one of the "Pre-Squire" ones...I did some work on the Neck pocket...Nut and Saddle...and some Fret work, in other words a full Set-up...put on some decent strings, made an Esquire guard for it to cover up the Goofy lookin soundhole...and thru a Solidstate Amp w/ proper EQ...it's a Pretty cool little Guitar...but I admit that w/o some work like I did, they are pretty much unplayable...YMMV

I had a telecoustic once, I got it for my son when I bought my first tele (a nashville, of course). Like others have already said, it sounded better plugged in than acoustic, but still, my son didnt care for it and I never could learn to really like it. I think I had bought it for only $75, and ended up selling it for $150 or something around there. A lot of folk were interested in buying it, but I frankly always thought it was fairly lousy all around . . . not a really well made guitar (and this was a Fender, not squier), and just never felt fun to play.

I have the Fender Japan TLAC-100...early `90s, silver Lace Sensor in the neck...piezos in the bridge, one of the pots allows me to blend the two.

I love the pickguard idea....I might have to visit that option. I have a telecoustic that is being offered to me in trade for 2 sets of custom wood grips for a 1911. There are a few scratches on it, so I was thinking of doing it as a Gold Top, and now I might also put on a pickguard....hhmmmmmmm.

And as to SS amps, I also found that I can get some pretty nice sounds thru my Line 6 head on a Crate cab with 4 12's.....no, it doesn't sound as nice as my Martin, or my Ibanez for that matter, but it is just a fun project.

I have an Ibanez Talman. Similar concept only WAY better sound.

These guitars have come a long way. Some of the older ones, especially the Squires, were just junk. However, the recently released models are a different story. The electronics are much improved and they actually sound really good plugged in. And the build quality is excellent as well. A good set-up is still required.

I have one coming tomorrow. I've been eyeballing them ever since the new models came out a few months ago and when I saw that MF had the telacoustic in the walnut stain for $150 shipped I couldn't pass it up. They weren't in stock so I've been waiting for awhile and I noticed that this finish is no longer listed. Probably not popular and these are most likely being blown out.

I think it will sound really good through my JC-120. Or I might end up buying one of the Acoustic AC-30 amp's that are also a killer deal.
