Good strings for Parlor Acoustic?

Hi, does anybody know what strings i should use on my cheap old 30's parlor guitar without truss rod... i've tried the Daddario phosphor bronze 10's and i find them to be very dull and lifeless I want a bright and punchy kind of tone... think Robert Johnson, lonnie Johnson or Diddy Wa Diddie played by Blind Blake...

I've heard that electric guitar strings sound very good on those small body guitars, anyone ever tried this ?? or should i just buy 11's, is the neck strong enough to take the extra pressure ?? i play in standard tuning in Eb or E depends on situation...

I'd like to know as well.. I got this old v-neck parlor guitar and want to set it up for slide but I'm afraid it won't handle tension well from heavy strings.. Maybe 9's will go on it at first to make sure.

it only costs 5-6 bucks to try something ... it's also a good idea to start with lighter gauges ...
