Well, I am very glad you chose to stick that in there (it tempers and lends a bit of credence to your rave), because my S6+Cedar is a cute little guitar, but certainly nowhere near worthy of the praise that you lavish on your QII.

I would buy the Taylor.

I have three Taylors and many other acoustics. The 114CE and the 110E are two guitars that I would buy in a heartbeat if I needed a reasonable priced gigging guitar. They have a simplified version of the Taylor Expression system with one volume and one bass and one treble control. You can dial a perfect sound through any PA and it is absolutely simple.

My Rainsong AWS1000 has the 4 EQ sliders with parametric midshift and it's an overwhelming pain in the *ss to work with on the fly.

Bob Taylor is doing more with CNC and the automation of bending side wood that Chris Martin is right now (and by the way..I love Martin guitars and I have three of them as well).

The fit and finish and ease of play and electronics on the Taylor will blow away anything in it's price range and the guitar will hold value. Big Babies cost $449 new and they sell for $349 on ebay every day. That's a cheap Taylor and they hold value.

110E - $649 - Elderly

As a side note all Taylors can be ordered with a short scale neck. I have a GA4 with the short scale neck that I love. I also found that Guitar Rodeo's prices for Taylor's can't be beat nor his customer service. I have no affiliation with Guitar Rodeo other than I am a very happy customer

Well, I've had my Seagull S6 cedar for a couple of weeks now and it just keeps getting better. I really enjoy it.

I do notice a difference with the larger nut width and the shorter scale. My short, fat fingers are actually able to play a few chords and make some runs without causing buzzing or harshness. I really believe that if I had owned this guitar a few years ago when I first started, I would be much farther along than I am now.

A friend of mine brought an older Yamaha along when he visited me on Friday. In his hands, it sounded great. When I tried it, I was disappointed; the nut was much narrower than my Seagull and things that sounded great on my guitar just wouldn't work for me on his. I chalk it up to the width of the neck and nut.

Overall, I am very pleased with my Seagull and would buy an a/e version if it presents itself. In fact, now that I know what a good wide neck feels like, I am selling my Schecter PT Fastback so that I can buy a wide-necked electric guitar.

Finally, this is my first solid-top acoustic. It feels and sounds great. I won't EVER buy another laminate top.
