Taylor Truss Rod

Hey guys, need some advice. The humidity is playing hell with my Taylor. I'm guessing that the top expanded a little pushing the neck to more of an angle with the body. It has really low action to begin with and now it's buzzing like crazy. Especially the D and G strings. I'm thinking a little truss rod loosening like a quarter turn will do the trick. I removed the cover and it looks like an ordinary hex bolt with washer on a threaded rod. I know Taylors have some kind of weird bolt-on neck joint so I don't want to mess anything up. I'm thinking that turning the nut counter clockwise will loosen it. Is this correct? Anybody have experience with Taylor rods? It's a 1986 model 712, if that's any help. Thanks.

Mr. N,
You won't mess anything up. The truss rod in a Taylor works the same as other guitars. The nice thing, and advantage to the bolt-on neck, is that if the truss rod adjustment doesn't change things enough for you, a tech can do a neck re-set really easily. If you go to the taylor website, they have some info on adjusting the truss rod. that'll help you if you have any questions. Also, not sure if you're already doing it, but storing the guitar in its case when not in use will help with the humidity. Good luck.
