THIS is a V Neck!
Stumbled across one of these Washburn 125th anniversary parlour guitars today in Sam Ash.
For illustration, here's one in an Ebay listing -- Scroll down and check out the back of the neck! THAT is a V neck! The one I played had a long crack on the front below the bridge, discounted to $600 (from $1,000), but I've seen a-grade elsewhere for less. But it is a very cool player. I'm not into relics, but this model is relic'ed, and I have to say, on a new/old RI parlour guitar, it's pretty damn cool. The body on the one I played is a trembesi wood body, which I think is similar to monkey pod, with a solid spruce top. The Ebay listing is lam koa body model. Just FYI. |

I had one of these....316 model.....but the bridge kept lifting and once I got the bridge to set on the top....the top had buldged so much the bridge would never stay for longer than a week.......Cool guitar...mine was just a bad dog.
I love that neck and the tone......plus it looked great......Got a full refund but would of loved to had a working guitar.

I played an old Martin-made Ditson for a couple years which had a hard V contour neck. I loved the thing.

I just played an old 30's archtop with the same type of neck, probably and inch and a half thick, heavy V, most amazing sounding and playing acoustic I've ever used. Super comfortable and didn't give me any hand fatigue (I played it for about 5 hours) Wanted to buy it but it was a 'family guitar'

Then again, it seems that most guitars made before WWII came with a V neck. Since many did not have truss rods a thick neck was a plus while the V shape made them more playable.
