Blues 32
We found a Blues 32 on Ebay... I was looking for a smaller bodied guitar for my wife and it gets a lot of play from both of us... I haven't had any setup issues quality seems pretty good for the price. I like the fact that it comes with a bone nut and bridge.

Blueridge, Morgan Monroe, and Recording King are all fine quality and relatively inexpensive solid wood guitars. They look extremely good and are well finished. They probably won't hold their value as well in the short term as the Martin and Gibsons they copy. If you are looking for a player then they represent a very good value. I've played them for several times over the last year but don't own one. They all stand on their own very well but IMO, the Recording King sounded better than the others. I A/B'd the MM and the Blue Ridge side by side and the Blue Ridge blew the MM's away sound wise although I thought the MM had a better finish job and was a more subdued looking guitar. However when I found a RK, I thought the sound and everything about the guitar was way more to my liking. It felt and sounded like a Martin.
Last year I was looking for a rosewood back and side/ spruce top Dread, and had I not stumbled upon a discontinued Olympia RW/Spuce that was a killer sound and value I would have purchased the Recording King, but I found it after I'd bought the Oly. Sincerely though, play them all before you purchase!! Only buy the one that really "speaks" to you, the one that you just can't leave behind at the store because you don't want someone else to get. FWIW, IMO, YMMV.

Don't forget to include the Epiphone Masterbuilt in that lineup. The ones I've played I preferred to the Blueridges overall - excellent guitars. I've yet to try a Recording King, but I'd like to based on the feedback I hear. Their banjos were selling like hotcakes and had killer reviews when they got over into acoustic guitars and such.
Required Morgan Monroe content: I do have a MM banjo that I consider excellent bang for your buck. I haven't heard quite the glowing reviews on their guitars, but go play a few and see. Most of these Chinese imports (I think MM is Chinese now?) are very good guitars these days. |
