new acoustic electric is only acoustic
i just got an ibanez V70CE in the mail today and lo and behold the electronics produce no more than a buzz. the buzz increases with the volume being turned up. i tried two batteries so that's not the problem. read through all the instructions which is just dumb stuff like restringing and maintenance. any ideas what would cause this kind of problem? the amp is a marshall micro stack and the preamp is the ibanez AEQ200. i dont think i have small enough screw drivers but im going to have to crack into this thing i guess. i really don't want to send it back and wait even longer but if it comes to that i will, i'd just rather fix it myself than sit around for another week or more waiting.

pulled it apart and couldn't find anything wrong. this sucks knowing i have to wait X amount more days just cause some ******* didn't do his job at quality control. is there any reason the active preamp on an acoustic electric wouldn't work with my amplifier?

Have you checked your cable? Sounds like a connection issue, but if you rule out the cable I'd send her back before you attempt more fixing. Your fix might void warranty... sux to wait if you return her, but...... better than a voided warranty.

i tried with my cable and the one it came with to no avail, i think i just got a lemon. i didn't try anything after my initial teardown because i can barely get my hand in the sound hole. thanks for the reply, guess i'll send her back before 45 days, though i want to try it on another amp just in case.

holy crap can't believe i didn't think of that, neither gave me even a jolt. i just assumed with a low battery light it would have indicated something...i guess they're both too dead to even light an LED! wow, here's my sign. i'll report back once i have tried a new battery. thanks so much for the obvious suggestion, i can't believe i didn't try that up to this point.
found another battery...you guessed it! thanks a ton! the fit and finish on this particular guitar is a little shaky, but now that i know i'm just an idiot and the guitar works fine i'm keeping it. you saved me quite a bit of headache! now i can go ahead and order a case for it with my bonus bucks |
