Gitane' DG 255

After a disheartening summer/fall of having to sell a bunch of Instruments to make ends meet ( Am ash Tele/larrivee L-05/60's ri Strat, half of my pedals, my mandolin, ect) things are leveling out a bit. On a recent layover in Edmonton, I hunted down a Gitane DG 255 and finally got to play one!!
About an hour later (that felt like 2 minutes!!!) , I realized that I hadn't been this inspired in ages and the music was flying out of my head and into my fingers. As I had to fly to Fort Macmurray the next morning and with baggage restrictions to consider, I had to get the store to hold it for me till I fly back next week.
I can't remember the last time a guitar inspired me like this!!! I'm still high from it!!!
Any Gypsy Jazzer's out there who have one of these or this style?? Any tips, suggestions, strings, picks ect?
CHEERS!!

Thanks!!!

Just checked it out, it's a great site!!
What do you use for a Pick? I haven't tried a Wedgen yet ,and the biggest one I can find is a Dunlop 208. Also ,can you recomend strings? I have a set of Pearse Nuages' but they are ball ends. Do I need loop ends for the Gitane'?
Thanks for the help.

Haven't played a DG225, but I played a DG300 (Jorgenson model) and was VERY impressed. Very warm, full and atrticulate

I'd like to play a little more gypsy jazz, but I don't really have anybody to jam on it with me.

The Gitanes will work with loop or ball ended stings.

Any heavy pick will work:wegens are especially nice(and expensive!!)

Don't think I've ever heard of someone who seemed happy the airlines smased their Gretsch.

Ahhh, well....gettin mad wouldn't do me any good. It was an Electromatic model, and the Airline was SUPER nice and quick about replacing it. I had wanted a Gitane for awile and the retail value was actually pretty close ( 2nd hand btw). Just making the best of a bad situation!!!
