Simon & Patrick Guitars
Played one of these today for the first time, and I really, really enjoyed it. The owner of the shop that had it said it was made by Seagull and he normally doesn't carry them. I played a Woodland Folk model, and thought it was great. The bass end of the guitar didn't sound like any acoustic guitar I had played. Almost classical in a way. Very full sound, great for fingerpicking, solos, and chords. I couldn't help but to play some blues. Then, as usual, the urge for me to play slide on it became too much to bear, so I grabbed one. Sweet Moses, its got that sound! I also really liked the neck. It was wide, and felt thin, almost like an electric. I loved it. What I didn't like was the price. It was $700 which is more than I want/can spend right now. I don't really play a lot of acoustic guitar like I used too, so I'm looking for something that's less than $400, sounds good, I can travel with, and I won't freak out if it gets banged up. I did a little research on prices, and still feel the guitar is overpriced. Luckily for me, there is actually a dealer about a half hour away. I'd love to try out one of their Parlor models.
So, who's got em' and what do you think about them? |

I have a classical and a small-bodied flat top - both were bought
shockingly cheap as used gear. they're rather excellent instruments, IMO.

S&P's are goodies, for sure - in fact, I like most everything from Monsieur Godin and I've owned near a dozen Seagulls, Normans, and S&P's combined.
I had a Woodland Folk Cutaway on order 'til I tried a friend's Morgan Monroe Blues 32 - wow! - just bought one and the honeymoon is still in full swing. The Blues 32 is hard to find for less than $400/shipped, but I found a good vendor in NY that sells 'em brandy new for $350/shipped ... oh yeah, killer hsc included! Do check out the Blues 32 ... http://www.morganmonroe.com/Blues-32...d09654295.html |

Never tried the Woodland Folk model that you described, but I love my 15 year old cedar top Simon & Patrick 12 string. It's beat up a bit but still sings.
Jammed last night with my Seagull and still marveling at it... |

You need to shop around, the highest I've seen for a S/P around hear is asking price around $650...can be had for around 575. I've seen several nice dreads for less than 500. They're made by Godin, parent co. of Norman, Seagull et al. They are nice all wood boxes for sure.
