Yamaha "Red Label" FG-140

Just picked up one of these, put on some new strings, and man, it sounds great. Having trouble with the serial # though as it does not follow any of the patterns ive seen on any Yamaha's because its just a seven digit number. Im guessing late sixties, but have no clue...once i get the camera out i'll post some picks. Any love for these around these parts?

Cheers
Mikey

Yeah Mikey, I sure love mine! And there are more, see this thread about an FG-140 over here!

Care to post any pics? Especially of that serial number you mentioned... I cannot find any on my FG-140.

Is this an orange or red label? And does that mean anything?

The backside of the headstock only says "made in Japan":

think thats a red one, small body isn`t it?...the 140s I see here are.
Nippon Gakki...my wife tells me it means Japan Instruments. One of my Dynamics has that MIJ sticker on the back of the headstock too...but only one has it, may be previous owners removed them, not sure.
the serial system may have been different for exports, lots of guys say they can tell the year by the number...I can`t with the Dynamics, my oldest has a 3 digit serial. I have read in one of my books that they reached 6 digits on Dynamics in 1961 though.
Wasn`t uncommon for Yamaha to makes some changes on models sold abroad so serials may date overseas models. Export Dynamics have the logo arched across the top of the headstock while domestics have it running straight across, for example.
