Martin LXM soundhole pickup

Does anyone have any experience with a soundhole pickup for the LXM? The soundhole is something like 3 1/4 or 3 1/2 inches and just too small for a standard pickup. Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid a piezo but it's interesting that the saddle slot has a 'premolded' drill point to install one (ala' LXME).

That little LXM will never stand up to your usual Belchfire 500 Dreadnought but for it's size it sounds amazing.

I had a Duncan MagMic in a Larrivee Parlor for a while - sounded great.

I've been reading about this, the Mi-Si Acoustic Duo. Looks cool and looks like it would fit w/ no issues.

here's a thread about the pickup with pictures.

I am all ears. I'd love to have a pickup on my LXK-2. Actually I'd love to have a sort of an electric pickup on it. Like Danelectro or DeArmond style.

Though my main grip is that the guitar sounds best with 13s and plays a lot easier with 12s. And that it needs new strings (my A&L Ami sounds great with old ones or new, doesn't mind either way).

Interesting pickup, especially the '60 second charge' part. Only down side is it's about 70% of the cost of the guitar!

Not a soundhole solution, but nearly as non-invasive (+ no batteries).... K&K Pure Western mini. I'm putting one in my LXM just as soon as I get around to it.

jusk looking to do this myself, I decided not to go down the sound hole route.

if you decide to go down the piezo route like I did, you will need the "narrow" format fishman pickup (if you decide to go for a fishman) I had this confirmed by Martin and Fishman via email.

I went for the Matrix Infinity, personally. Did a test run on another guitar the other day which went very well, apart from I sanded the saddle too much, DOH! Not too much of an issue as it is an excuse to get a compensated one like on the Martin.

The only issue I can see with the Martix Infinity is the fixing of the tone and volume controls as the x brace is is a different location to a stanard guitar, but there is a bracket that allows fixing to a clasical guitar included in the box that looks like it will just do the trick!

in fact it is the LXK2 that I have, I am REALLY impressed with "The Gnome" great sound and playability.

there was a few rough edges on the fretboard and nut, nothing a little careful rub with some sand paper did not fix.

at this price I was MORE than happy with the result.

once I have fitted the pickup I can give you an update as to how it went / sounds if you like

Cheers
