Morgan-Monroe?
Found this little place online, The Guitar Hut, Nashville, TN.
They're showing Blueridge, Recording King, and Morgan-Monroe brands. Blueridge is the only one I've had any play time with. Anyone here know anything about these other two brands?? I'm sure they're imports but they look pretty good for the money.(just a cursory look though, on the website) I'm somewhat intrigued by this one... http://guitarhut.net/morgan_monroe_m20_guitar.htm Any experience with these, anyone? |

There is a good Morgan Monroe dealer on the south side of Milwaukee. They are nice guitars......at least as good as a Blueridge but they look more like nitro finish and not the super high gloss (it looks like plastic to me) finish and the shellwork in the headstock that Blueridge is known for.
MM makes some parlors and 00's and slope shoulders. They have some really neat models. Some of the MM's have volutes and butterbean tuners. Classy. I like 'em. All the MM's except one Parlor come with arch top cases with hygrometers. John

OK, found them at a place in MN., called the Pickin' Parlor. Model M-20 for 559.00. I also found a local place that is a dealer, so I got to go check 'em out.

Well, it's a sad day for Morgan Monroe...
I played an M-20 and the blingy model M-50 today. I thought the low end was muddy and weak. I also played two different Blueridge BR-160s and they both kicked the snot out of M/M hands down. The BRs even had grungy oxidized strings and still had much, much, better tone. YMMV |
