Here's a little beauty I just picked up. It was sad, lonely and neglected. A bit of TLC TLT ( tender lovining tweaking ) and it's truned into a real nice player. Lovely voice to this little gem.

This thread got me thinking about some guitars I had stashed away, so I brought out and cleaned up my mother's old archtop. This guitar looks much prettier than it plays or sounds. Kinda like one of those Jersey girls that's gorgeous and then she opens her mouth and a Fran Drescher sound comes out. It's a lot of fun for sounding old time, and a heck of a good slide guitar.

Yeah, horse's leg is right on the money. I've been thinking about trying to do a steam and straighten on the neck, but I'm a touch worried that it might twist, and it's not worth the $$$ to have a pro do it, so I strung it with electric 10s and am playing open chord songs on it.

It looks just like all the other ones but I gotta post a photo anyway...because I love it so! I hardly ever get to buy any new gear of any sort so this one is a real big deal to me. It plays like a million bucks and sounds like Heaven to my ears - I bet dollars to donuts I'll have it for the rest of my life. Martin D-18V against our "catch all"...never mind the mess!

Now, Ms. Mandy, you don't have to go and say your baby looks like all the rest, when you know she's purtier!
And, that's quite alright. mud

Larrivee L-09 circa 1997. My first "nice" acoustic.
Martin D-41. Plays like a dream. Takes the fun out of visiting guitar stores. National M2. Purchased last year from Elderly Instruments. Makes me wish I had bought a resonator years ago. Nice twang. I mostly play fingerstyle, no picks at all. Larrivee BT-60 baritone acoustic guitar. Purchased two years ago at FQMS. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Here's my hummingbird alone, and one in action. It took me a few years to save the cash but I feel really fortunate to get to play what I consider one of my "dream guitars" every day.

Some way nice acoustics here! Here's a couple of mine:
My main Honduran Mahogany/Sitka dread: ![]() An EIRW/Englemann OM I just finished: ![]() ![]() And my old hotrodded Tacoma DR-20. It smokes any other Tacoma I ever played. She doesn't get played much these days, but I just can't seem to part with her:

There is more than one guitar in that picture? All I can see is the ES 335. I never could take my eyes off of those things, unless of course it was sitting next to a 355....Seriously, thats a pretty awesome collection you have there.

thanks.. i don't like to have more than one guitar for a particular style (say two teles or two dreads), cause i know one of them 'll end up not getting played, and guitars are meant to be played y know..!
..but i 'm still missing a 12 string, a classical and a resonator... maybe later this year i manage to get one.... |

![]() As nobody else seems to have one, here's my Lowden S10c from the late 1980s when George Lowden still owned the business. He is still making guitars under his own name now but only after a long drawn out deal wth shareholders and such over the last 20 years, this guitar has been valued at around the same as a new one now. but I'm not selling! :) |

I'm going to show you my Tanglewood Indiana. I love 'er. She's come to be known as 'Betsy', my friend just called her that once and it has stuck.
I took some pictures yesterday. I forgot to take the date away so you'll just have to put up with it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I especially love the shape of the bridge, scratchplate and tuners on her. My first proper acoustic (was stuck with a £20 piece of rubbish before). I bought it for £120, including a rather rubbish gig bag and a few picks in March. |

Thanks Mudbean. You really need a day when no else (including the dog) is home to take the group shots. I was in the mood for goofy fun and took the big family photo.
I wonder in anyone ever had a proffesional photographer take their guitar family photo? That would be weird. (-: John

![]() Here's my 00 (Martin 00-18V). I think this would be it if I could only have one guitar. I love my dread but the 00 scale and mahogany sort of make this the guitar equivalent of comfort food. Last edited by imwjl; December 19th, 2008 at 11:58 PM. |

I finally took some pics!
I remembered to take my camera to the church today and took a few poorly-lit snaps of two of my acoustics. First is my new Epiphone Chet Atkins (a gift from a dear frind and former bandmate). It's a solidbody with a piezo undersaddle pickup, sort of an electric-acoustic hybrid. The body is very reminiscent of a Les Paul body.
Next is my Number One, a Takamine F-389 all-mahogany 12-string. It sounds and plays like a dream. It has the best action of any acoustic I can remember playing. When I play it in church, I use a Fishman Neo-D soundhole pickup. I may move the L.R.Baggs M1 from my Epi Hummingbird to this one. I found this guitar used at my local GC a few years ago, selling for $179! A STEAL!!

Early-mid '30s Regal. Somebody long ago cut the top of the headstock, where the name is, off. V-neck warped. Set up with high nut.
Gibson EC-20, 1999. I've never seen another and I've only seen 2 or 3 for sale in ads over the years. Nice guitar, don't really know why there aren't many of them. I think they only made them in '98 and '99. I keep it in open G for slide. 2007 Custom Shop Gibson J-45 Bubinga, 1 of 40 made. Adirondack top, Bubinga (AKA African Rosewood) back and sides. Factory Baggs Element. Kind of a lighter 'burst than your normal J-45. The bubinga is beautiful knurly wood. Great sounding guitar. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Can't post pics from work (where I always post from), but my careful selections:
1930s Regal dobro (wooden, spider-bridge, roundneck, incredible) 1973 Guild D25 (all-mahogany, arched-back, incredible, original owner) 1983 Guild D15-12 (all-mahogany, arched-back, just got it last week as an anniversary present after a lengthy search for a match for the D25, fabulous instrument) 2008 Republic tricone (relic'd, very cool) None amplified, as yet. |
