I believe he just woke up and realised these people aren't my friends and they aren't acting in my best interests.
What makes you say this? Not to be confrontational (as clearly there must be support for this), but it seems that here is a fellow, who but for the splinter group, has not made progress for a very long time...i have many of his post FM albums and onl a couple are real albums IMHO, and most tohers are a re-assembly of those two.....
It might seem that he is among a group of musicians in which whatever he does is stellar, the group moves at a pace conducive to Peter, and certainly has been 'instrumental' in Peters re-emrgence into music.....
I have the Robert Johnson splinter group albums, and have seen PG covered in several guitar mags from the UK all due to his work with the SG, doing material which is fmailar to PG, and which does not, IMHO, require any guitar wizardry (comparatively speaking) .
I am a huge huge fan of PG, no qualifications, but, from the little i have read, as well as having seen him a year or so ago here in Colorado, he is a shadow of himself, and, might not have been an easy person to get along with professionally, for a variety of reasons, (all conjecture on my part of course based upon his history) ....so as a icon who is regaining visibility, as well as his status and chops, it would appear that running with a really good pub band might be a less stressful vehicle for PG...any further insight or info would be great. I am aware there are opportunists in the business but somehow from my admittedly limited info, this would surprise me, mostly because the splinter group is a showcase solely for PG, and, there is virtually no focus on the other band members....
