Buddy is one of my favorite all time writers and players - his guitar sounds weren't extremely great.

I can think of tons of great players who use Strats, but their guitar sound isn't "above and beyond" - many Tele and LP players on the other hand have great tone (regardless of skill/technique).

This thread is like 3 years old now - I've got a Strat - it gets limited use, but its good enough.
