Mine is also red - but an 1988. I've always had this love/hate relationship I suppose! It's a nice guitar actually but I don't get the neck pup sound I really want. It's hard to get that glassy Stevie Ray quality. I suppose that would require new pups ... etc., etc. Mine has a maple fretboard, very shiny, which I've never been crazy about either.
I actually like my Tele's neck pup more. It's deeper sounding, better for jazz and blues.
Now my '61 SG - that I could never sell.
