I wouldn't. I have a LP I rarely play, but I know I'd regret it if I sold it. A tele can't do the strat neck PU thing IMHO. That is why I have a strat. You must like the guitar a lot to keep it for so long. How about a new set of Van Zants for a new lease on life?
