Look into vintage tube PA amps. I have several Bogen amps that have been converted for guitar use that sound great. The conversion is as simple as replacing the input jacks. Then you can tweek them from there as needed. Look on ebay under tube amps and you will find one. Other names are Newcomb, Precision, Masco, Bell & Howell, and RCA. Just check out the tubes and find one with the tubes compliment that is the same as your favorite fender type amp.
