We do a real mix in our duo but avoid the more obvious crowd-pleasers if we can. For me a great song stands on its own merits and is usually well-received even if it isn't that familiar.

Galway to Graceland-Richard Thompson
Dimming of the Day-Richard Thompson
Route 66-Manhattan Transfer version
Arthur MCBride-Trad. as played by Planxty
The Little Drummer. " " " "
New Moon Over My Shoulder-Doc Watson
While My Guitar Gently Weeps-George Harrison (guitar with mandolin melody line)
Moth-Martin Simpson
Dear Doctor-Stones
What Am I Doin' Hanging 'Round-Monkees
Jimmy Brown the Newsboy-Trad.
Over The Rainbow-Harold Arlen
Another Day-Roy Harper
Love Please Come Home-Leon Jackson

These are just a few suggestions.
