If you are willing to get NOS ones try Mullards in the preamps and Polams in the power tube slots. Among newly made tubes I'd say EI 12AX7's and EL84s will sound the Voxiest and chimiest if you can find them, the new Russian Tung-sol 12AX7 reissues are also good.

Well, i've put about 3 hours on it cranked, so another 47 to go....
I was fooling around with the reverb & trem tonight. The trem isn't too bad, but the reverb isn't that great. Anything past 9 o'clock is unusable really. I'll have to look into an Accutronics tank i suppose at some point.
Also, I'll have to put new tubes. I hear a slight popping and buzzing, and i suspect it's the stock tubes. I haven't checked what they are yet.
I think i can get EI Elite tubes locally. I've read that the current EH EL84's are close to Mullard's. Any thoughts on Tube Amp Doctor?
