The Meloncaster Project (aka Son of Buttercaster)

I want to be like Ron!

I want to be like Jack!

I want to be like Tom!

I want to be like Rob!

I want to be like Arlo!*

The only way that will happen is if I get of my rear end...and start putting things together again.

So here goes...

You might remember that last March I shaped a couple of bodies. I have been obsessing with this one.

Putting DEFT sanding/sealer on.

Taking it off.

Putting it on.

Taking it off.

Trying to make it perfect.

Today it hit me.

This body is going to be covered with THICK sparkly paint.

There is probably NO NEED to be obsessive.

So...

here is a review...

the body, and the sparkle.

here is the alder body all covered with multiple coats of DEFT sanding/sealer and 220 sanded to a point that should be GOOD ENOUGH.

and the back

we'll wipe it down with a tack cloth and spray the base coat for the sparkle.

Are you ready for this?

KRYLON OUTDOOR SPACES 2922 Watermelon. (satin)

Gee. That is intense!

That might look good with white binding.

But not this one.

Now I guess I'd better go grab a neck and put that base coat on the headstock.

Then wait for it to get good and dry.

Here is the plan.

Knock down any dust/high spots.

Mist on a couple of coats of clear DEFT to seal the base.

Put on a WET coat of DEFT.

Sprinkle on the Sparkles.

Repeat as needed.

This should be fun!
