Stantheman,

This does seem kind of like a badly written movie, doesn't it? To answer your question, soon after I left Canada I met and married a girl of Norwegian descent. I mention the Norwegian part because those Norsks are really great people!! We have 2 kids. I took a job in a factory and spent 30 years doing a job that gave me no personal gratification, but it provided a good income with which we raised our kids. I have no regrets about this. We made a choice to provide a stable environment in which our kids could grow up with a strong set of values and the feeling that they had a home. I didn't have those things when I grew up. My family moved 22 times by the time I was 18 and I vowed not to let this happen to our kids. All in all, I am far better off to have chosen the life I have rather than to regret not having the life I left. I do miss the thrill of it all at times though........
The love of music never really left my life. Both of my kids have musical talent. Not to slight my daughter, and I know she would agree with this, my son is an extremely gifted musician. He can play any instrument you put in his hands. His ability on guitar is far superior to mine. I can honestly say that if he played diligently every day, he could stand with Clapton and put on a good show. I'm saying this critically, not as his father. All in all, my life is at a very good point.
