Because back when Epi's were made in Kalamazoo, MI, There was never a Gibson Sheraton, and never an Epiphone Les Paul.
BTW, No disrespect to those who play and love modern Epi's. They're fine guitars in their own right. I just think Gibson shoulda done it differently.
