My former bass teacher played behind Chuck Berry. But not rhythm guitar. Chuck told him "This song has three notes."
I play in a few bands. One is me, a 57 year old man, and a 54 year old woman. Another has an age range of about 35 years between players, with me in the middle. Another is all within five years.
I play folk, rock, jazz, country, and the music I listened to as a teenager influenced me. However, that music had very little to do with what was popular at the time...
I discovered Chet Atkins at the ripe old age of 18, and became quickly enamored. Part of my goal as a music teacher is to expose kids to a wide range of styles and break down the age barriers for them. You'd be surprised how many teenagers are Elvis Presley fans.
