I use a Peavey C30 (and an old Harmony, but that's another story) and really like it. One thing about the sparkle, JJ 12AX7s, IMHO, take away what little the C30 has to start with. The EH 12AX7s give a bit more top end. I like the JJ power tubes, though.... YMMV and all that, of course...

I'm happy with the C30, in general. I used to use one of those 80's red-knobbed Twins, but that got a bit big for my basement. My C30 is an old one -- pre-Blue Marvel, or whatever Peavey calls their speakers, mine's a no-name -- I may replace the speaker someday, but I'm not sure what I'd replace it with. I haven't given it much thought.
