I do get back to *everybody* that leaves a message on my answering machine... 'have moved the Uncle Spot shop to Lodi (50 miles north of Modesto, where it was for 10 yrs, and 86 miles east of San Bruno, where it was for 16 yrs before that...). When you live 50 miles from where you work and get the chance to move it within 9 miles you do it. 'had to do it for 2 other reasons: unemployment in this area (San Joaquin county) is 34%, and my business dropped out 82%. ...so I've been on the road (Boise, Denver, Seattle, Portland, San Diego, L.A. etc) working on electron microscopes to "make ends meet". but my passion is, has been, and always will be vintage tube technology.
...and to answer a question in this thread, "are ALL amp techs 'wierd'?" 'guess it's a matter of symatics, when you're overly passionate and obsessed with how things use to work and the "Power-of-TONE" and what it does to the human psyche, you *are* different from "normal" people. Sorta like an obsessed musician, just "behind" the gear instead of in front.
...sorry I haven't been checking the internet for postings about me but I'd rather work on amps, recone speakers and PLAY music than "surf the NET"
Anyway: 'religiously in the shop on the weekends, and when not on the road (which is normally 2 or 3 weeks out of the month)
...and I have to agree with G-P 100%: *NO*body is *every*body's "cup-of-tea" - it sure would make the world a boring place. and apparently we're BOTH here for a mutual reason - the Telecaster. it sure is MY personal favorite guitar.
