At your age, you are bound to have buddies who do a little mechanic work. It's not a big deal to change a brake line. It is a big deal to get the air out of the lines when you get it back together.
It's not difficult and can be done alone, but is much easier if you have someone to help you by applying pressure to the brake peddle as you release the air from the line as it will surely have some air in it after changing the hose or steel line whichever the case may be. Once you understand how to do this simple job, you will have a basis for deciding on doing more work for yourself in the future.
Since air often travels in a brake system, it's a good idea to bleed off each of the brakes after working on them just to make sure you don't end up with spongy or worst case no brakes at all. Can happen.
