I'm thinking this, too.
What If I'm coming home from a gig and get pulled over because someone in the area has stolen some gear...?
Or the cop is just crabby and decides to see if my stuff looks legit?
A few people said, "It could have been stolen 20 years ago."
I'll tell you what...I had a real nice SG stolen almost 30 years ago and it still stings to think about it.
