I use a Pathfinder and a Fender Mustang 1 in my acoustic/elec duo and both have plenty of clean headroom but not as much as my old Blues Jr. I understand you want something small but am surprised you Blues Jr is lacking clean headroom. Mine had plenty for me even when played in a band context.
