I don't like the vintage frets on the Classics but many folks around here like them.
As for the pups, the stock pickups are pretty meh, the Texas Specials would be an upgrade. However, the stock pups are usable, and if you don't like them, I'd suggest putting in some GFS Professional Series Tele pups. In my Tele I have the GFS '63 Pros with the overwound bridge and they are awesome.
