I made this box and covered it with carpet in one day, maybe 8 hours.
Probably half of that was digging out the tools, because I have no dedicated workshop. But, adding the internal partitions and baffle (still no grillcloth) and clean up the mess, most of the second day.
Moral of the story... unless you have a workshop with all the tools ready to use and easy to sweep up (IF you do that kind of thing!
), AND you have loads of time on your hands, by all means spend $100 to make a nice tweed cabinet.
But as for me, even paying an extra $75 for shipping to Japan, I'll ask a craftsman to do this particular part of the build.
