honestly man, after having a humbucker in the neck for nearly 3 years of my tele I pulled it out. You'll find that it just doesn't balance well in terms of eq, clarity and output with your bridge pickup. I play(ed) a lot of jazz and thought that a humbucker was the way to go, but I prefer the single coil sound more even for that idiom. I would honestly recommend swapping your pickups for upgraded tele sounding pickups (i love the set of Suhr pups in mine but there are many great options) before I go through the hassle of routing the body and ordering a new pickguard. In terms of blues I can't think of anything more bluesy than an overdrive with a lot of high end sizzle coupled with the dark/creamy but clear tele neck pickup. If you want a darker jazz/blues sound, then rolling the tone of gets you there. i'm not trying to be a dick or anything by suggesting this, it's just that i would imagine screwing with tele pickups would be a lot cheaper and simpler in the long run and imho produces better results (subjectively of course).
