Paul Butterfield and Mike Bloomfield were also trust funders...

I doubt Parsons contributed much to his trust..country rock wasnt a big dollar commodity back then...everyone waas hoping for the sort sucess that the Eagles got...and part of the the problem was that Gram didnt have to work...but the rest of the Burritos, for instnace, did...

There were a number of people trying to come up with a mix of counrty music , R&B and rock...Parson's career was jump started by joining the Byrds when he did...and he was the prime example of "live fast-die young"..."better to burn out than fade away"... I wonder if he had lived...would his legacy be any greater than all the folks who have slipped below the radar?

He was a gateway into country music for alot of folks..including me...and, like I said..when he was on , he was dead on...but he wasnt the only one doing what he did..."cosmic american music" wasnt his idea alone......he just came up with the name...and really, Chrris Hillman,,,with his latter day Burritos aka the Desert Rose Band is the one who wrote the songs (Sin City is about a guy who managed the Byrds, for instance) and carried the torch....

I do still get goosebumps where I hear "In My Hour of darkness"....and his version of "Street of Baltimore " is the best IMHO
