By talking to a single pastor, you may avail yourself of lots of people/families in his/her church that might have some extra space, know of jobs, or who would be willing to help in some other way. Again, not a religious post, but a pragmatic way to maximize your exposure to opportunities with an audience that "should" be eager to help you with a solution.

I agree this is the best solution for you. You would be surprised at how many people might help you out. Give it a shot.
