I'd go with state or maybe even county parks with campgrounds. Many of them have shower houses while national parks or forests are usually less developed.
Best of luck with your situation...I've been there and unfortunately "I need space" does mean "I've got someone else" more often than not. Here's hoping that I'm wrong and you and your wife can work it out, but remember to watch out for yourself first...nobody else will.
